Content or Happy

In this post I wish to discuss with you the difference between contentment and happiness. I have had the pleasure and disappointments of experience both and I am curious as to who else here knows the difference.

In my earlier years I always questioned how to get to happiness, and what I would have to sacrifice to be content. Well, question no more…

Happiness – A state in which your heart, mind, body, and soul have all agreed that this is what you want and need in life. A state in which you think about the thing that gives you this sense of joy, belonging, and want; wishing to continue on with life wearing a smile on your face.

Contentment – Accepting your lot in life, believing that you are where you need to be to get where you need to go. But do not necessarily enjoy that reality.

For example, I was content with the position I worked, but am now happy with the position I currently hold at my job. I was content to learn the lessons I needed to learn to be able to move on with what God’s purpose was with my life. I now work a job that I never thought I would experience happiness in, with the greatest coworkers I have ever worked with. This is due to collaboration. I will try to expound on that at a later date though.

I want you to reflect on your life and see where you are. You may be in the contentment stage of life, and that is okay. Sometimes we have to fight the devil hard to get what God has in store for us. Have faith dear one, you are closer than you think. Anything is possible with the help of the Father, Amen.

Sincerely,

Family

What is a family? People who are blood related sitting around a table eating dinner having a pleasant conversation but not one of them are saying what they are actually saying… Siblings who pretend to get along when they around their parents but act like they do not know each other when they are at school… Parents who never talk to each other but act all cute when other people are around…

What is your opinion of a family? Would you say that your blood relations embody your idea of family? Can we talk about them with respect and mean every word we say? Can we hang out at a coffee shop with them for and hour or more and actually say from the bottom of our hearts that we truly enjoyed being with them?

What does society have to say about a family? Around the time before WWII society saw a family as the man working, the wife staying at home keeping house and the children being kind sweet angels wherever they go. Sounds different from todays thought process? That is what I thought as well. Todays time they see a family as both of the parents working because “they have the right” or neither one makes enough to support the whole family on their own. The children act however they please because they grow up thinking everything comes free and is owed to them, living out their day going from school at 6-3 including bus ride and then spending the evening at a day care, with a nanny, or home alone to do whatever they see fit.

Wow, those two thought processes different. Now keep in mind we see both of these lifestyles in those day and time tv shows, books, music, and just about anywhere else.

Family to me is not just blood related, it does not end at my sisters and cut off at my half sisters. Family to me is, people we care about. Will be there for each other no matter what, would die for each other, and would defend each other to the end ext. It is similar to having a friend but with blood mixed in to the story.

Family is the only thing that will be there for me no matter what. Family is a strong tie into the pit of the soul gripping onto something within us that we cannot explain. Family will effect us in ways we may never be able to explain. What they say matters as well as, what they think, how they act towards us, how much they care. Even wordless silent gestures make us turn in wonder as to what is wrong.

Family can be a connection that will never make sense. I have two older sisters that I may never see. I will never call them half sisters and I will always think of them highly and with respect.

Family can be people who are not blood related. Like adoptions, foster kids that have become attached to you and you to them. Random people who you call Auntie or Big Sis.

Family is a broad and important term to those who care about it. Hold on to your loved ones, life is short and many are not with us as long as we prefer. Make that plane flight to see them, take that many hour long drive to be with them, make that phone call that you know will last hours because you have not talked in forever. It is worth the risk and every second that you do not get back.

I hope you read this and leave understanding the value of these people we call family. They may be a pain, but they are worth it in the end. If they were not, then God would never have made them or us.

I pray you all have a blessed night, Amen.

Waiting For God

So many of us dwell on instant gratification. We push a button and get exactly what we want, we say we want it so we get it even if we do not have the funds.

Not many of us have patience anymore. We do not have to wait for really anything in this day and age. We have self checkouts, drive throughs, we have credit cards instead of saving accounts, text messages instead of hand written letters. Why go in a store when you can order it online and have it ready to pick up in store?

Everything is about convenience. People talk about cost but what kind of cost are we talking about? The cost of money, or the cost of the soul? I was told that time is the most expensive thing you can give because you cannot get it back. People treat it like it is so important without putting any importance into it. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

They will save time in the grocery store by buying it all online and picking it up at the side door but what do you do with the time you saved? Watch a tv show perhaps.

When we send a text instead of calling or visiting that person, what does it cost us?  Well, it cost you listening to their voice, building a stronger relationship, enjoying their company, seeing them smile or laugh, hearing how they feel instead of trying to interpret how someone feels based off of how they text.

What is patience? It is having the stamina and fortitude to wait for what you want. It is being dedicated to a decision or an action to the point that you are willing to wait. I will give you an example.

I quite working at DQ towards the end of the yr 2017 and worked for an assisted living home. (This was right after my first EMT class.) I worked there for 8 months and I remember God telling me my time was up and that it was time to leave. I was able to get a part time job at Michaels right after I left the home. Michaels did not give me enough hrs to pay the bills, so I told God that it was all in his hands. When the school season kicked in I was a substitute for special education assistants while continuing to work for Michaels. About two or three months of doing this one of the schools that I subbed for had a job opening as well as another school wanting me because of a girl that had recently enrolled was handicapped in a wheel chair; which was something I dealt with often at the assisted living home. I could not decide which school to work for. I was torn up over this; I spent 2-3 weeks working with the wheel chair girl just to see if I would like the job before I got hired on. I remember praying and telling God that he had to make the choice. Not too long after, the lady that had me working with the little girl said. “I do not know how to tell you this, but someone within the system applied for the position and they get top priority. So I cannot give you the job. “ I smiled thinking” thank you Father. I said to her, “That is all right; I could not decide which school to work for anyway. God just made up my mind for me. ” I applied for the other school receiving that job rather quickly.

You see all of this took awhile to take place. What if I did not wait on God to give me a job, but went to find a job somewhere else? What if I did not like Gods decision and went another route?

God tells us to not worry about anything, not even what we will eat tomorrow. Why do we live in constant concern for the future? Why do we take matters into our own hands? God even told Moses to be still before parting the waters. God has taken care of my every need my whole life because I was patient and waited on him. We should be doing that for everything.

All of these people in the world rushing to get somewhere off unimportance to do something that holds no value. Is this not even a little disappointing? How can we live with that truth?

Self Examine your life, Do you know that you are where God wants you to be; doing what he wants you to do? I refuse to get in heaven and God look at me shaking his head saying, “This is what you did, and this is what I had planned for you.” I would be distraught. Because I would feel as though I had failed. My heart breaks imagining not doing what he has planned for me.

The adventure God has planned for each one of us is going to be different. Maybe you will cross paths with someone who has a similar walk and you end up being soul mates. If we are patient and wait for the hand of God to work on our lives, then everything will work out for the better. Even if you do not see it, it will always work for the better.

I hope y’all have a wonderfully blessed day, Amen.

Friend

Friend, what do I see when I say that?

Well, when I close my eyes I see colors, colors representing happiness, through those vibrant colors I hear laughter, a laughter that makes me smile deep down inside. I see eyes that hide nothing with a smile of sincerity. A person being who they are with no regrets or fear of being judged. I see someone who feels comfortable in the environment they reside in. An aura of confidence with and air of relaxation about them. I see someone I would die for, I trust my life to them. I see someone who has walked from hell and back with me, who loves me on my best days and on my worst days. Someone I can relate to, a person who will grow with me and not hold me down. A person who, if we are different doesn’t try to change me. A person who will stand for me when I cannot even stand for myself, one who would meet me where I am with just a phone call. I see a relationship that each person gives each other there all, not a 50/50 relationship but a 100/100 relationship.  A friendship where not only do we laugh together but cry together as well. A relationship of mutual respect and understanding.

Where do we get this kind of relationship you ask?

Well, here is the hardest part that we all have to understand and come to an agreement on… it takes both people giving themselves up for each other to see. No lies, no secrets, no talking behind each other’s backs, no bad communication. All of those are hard things to do, even if you both agree to do everything I have talked about, there is something you need to understand.

Most people do not make it because it takes time, effort, perseverance, work, and a lot of apologizing. A lot of forgiving. People talk about how great it would be to have a friend, but not very many people are willing to put in the time and effort to make it happen.

This is why my closest friends are my sisters and my immediate family. We are all still working on understanding each other and sympathizing with how we all feel towards different things.

All of us have our weird quirks. You cannot even be a possible friend for me if you cannot love me for the exact way that I am. No matter how crazy I get.

Yes, I have incredible caffeine rushes and I swear I am the funniest person alive after I have had coffee. Yes, I snort when I laugh so hard I cannot breath. Yes, the only thing I can do quietly is walk, and read; I cannot sneeze, hiccup, blow my nose or talk quietly, you can hear me do it all.

But I would step in harms way if it meant saving anyone that mattered to me. I will be there when you needed me the most, help you even when you do not ask. I would laugh with you at your funniest moments, and cry with you at your saddest moments. I will give you the confidence you need. I will help you do what you need to do but I will not do it for you. I will dare you to be your greatest and help you achieve your goals. I will do my best to be someone you can trust. I will be honest even if it hurts.

My mother once told me, “there are too many leaders, and not enough servants”.

She was so right. There should only be one leader. Jesus should be our only leader. We should follow him. If we followed him (even our friends) we would all naturally become one. Our friendships would be bonds stronger than brotherhood. At that point any relationship would have more merit and meaning, including relationships with the opposite sex.

If you think you do not have a friend remember this. Jesus is our closest and best friend. He is our bridegroom, protector and our salvation. So for those of you who feel lonely, maybe there is a reason. Maybe we should get to know our friend more by putting “work” and “time” into the relationship.

I hope this touched someone’s heart. May you all have a blessed night, Amen.

Sincerely,

This Girl

A Moment

What is a moment? A series of seconds where space and time collide? Where matters of substance gain weight in meaning? When the objects that matter to us stand out?

What defines a moment? How do we recognize it? Well let me tell you.

Close your eyes. Now, think of a time in life. Just a short moment that meant the world to you.

Was it that 15 min conversation with a friend before they had to head to work? Was it a holiday spent with a family member? The last moments before a loved one died?

How exceptionally short the life we live is. And yet, we put so much importance in it.

What would happen if we put importance over the things that truly mattered? Do we even know what is important?

I shake my head in sadness at my generation. Due to the creation and excitement of current devices. Certain things have been taken for granted.

Like waiting for a friends telephone call by watching the home phone. Waiting for it to ring for what felt like hours.

Going on dates without something consistently ringing in your pocket.

Going on a drive enjoying the scenery instead of passing your last record on a matching game.

What happened to simply living. We cannot even work a simple job without having a device to either work the job or avoid a coworker. What happened to hr long phone calls instead of two hr long texting.

We are missing out on so many things. People my age and younger have a hard time carrying on a decent conversation most of the time.

I wish that for the growing years of our children we would divert them away from anything electronic the way my parents did. I hardly ever saw my parents watch tv. My dad only played video games for us to watch while we ate or to play Nintendo games like Monkey Ball and Mario with us. He also made sure that what he did play around us was age appropriate.

We read more books than I ever watched tv. We played pretend more than I ever played video games. I was not allowed to have a personal phone until I truly needed one like (getting a job).

When we were bored we learned things like crochet, sewing, painting. We learned responsibility through caring for animals like ducks, dogs and rabbits. We learned work ethics by volunteering at the library, mission, and shelter. We learned money management and how to save money the moment I started collecting chore payment. I did not get a weekly allowance, I worked for my money. I would clean the house, feed the animals, take the trash out, and work in the garden.

My generation is lacking in most if not all of these skills and more. I pray for them. Some of them have had a ruff life and I have admiration for there tenacity. Others think they are incredibly entitled and that they do not have to work for anything.

We deserve nothing but hell for what we have done. How dare we expect more. God is incredibly gracious for not taking us all right off of the face of the earth. Look at how we treat each other. Better yet look how we treat ourselves. We do not even respect ourselves sometimes. We can see this with how we talk, dress, act, and respond to others.

The bible talks about a fruit bearing tree, and that the one that does not bear fruit will be hewn down. We must be alert at how we represent our Father. As His children we must stand and be examples for our brethren and rebuke them in love.

Pray for the people around you and never assume that you know what is going on in their life. What happens to them will never be an excuse as to how they act. It might be an explanation though.

The Lord be with you all and may you all have a blessed night.

Amen.

A Story

I am going to tell you a story about a person. I will describe this person to you as little as possible. I want you to see not what I want you to see. But what God wants you to see. May the Father show you what you need to see.

~*~

The wind swirled around someone. Standing on the road they have been walking. Their fear disappeared. The fire in the eyes of this person was straight determination and Courage. Tears ran down this persons face. Anguish for what has to be done.

As you look behind this person. Down towards the bottom of the hill they stand on. You will see their past. All of those “great things” that where done; burning with fire and brimstone. You can hear screaming, and see shadows of monsters running around in the night taking what they could. Their teeth gnashing as their claws tear up the ground.

Scars covered the persons body; some where fresh, others old. Behind this person on their right side. Not to far back (still on the top of the mountain) lay a grave. On this grave was the inscription that read your name. Below that was written “Thy old self”.

Your eyes diverted to an object not that far away; stood a cross. As you stood and beheld this image you heard words in the wind. Calling, saying, “Come, and I shall give thee rest,” “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”, and “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8. All of those words carried in the wind, echoing around you.

Your heart was heavy as you looked around. The monsters stood around snarling, laughing at you. You looked down at your dads praying. You looked at your torn and battered hands. They held the book that you had been holding onto this long. As you looked at the book praying. These words came to mind.

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galations 5:1

As you transferred the book into your right hand it turned into a double edged sword. The murmurs and chanting of the demons changed as they backed up a couple feet.

You looked before you and saw the Y in the road. Your body filled with faith and belief in the Father God. The Spirit swelled inside of you giving you courage. As you waited for the path you should take to be shown to you strong hands rested on your shoulders. When you looked up your heart was filled with contentment and happiness as you realized that the person behind you was your guardian angel.

” The path will be long and you have much to learn. The armor must be claimed and the battle must be fought,” said the angel. But with God, nothing is impossible.

May this story give you confidence and strength to do what you know you have to do; Hallelujah, Amen!

The Right One

A lot of people talk about finding the “right one” for them. I no longer see the fascination. Husbands and wives are forever soul mates, not a couple year get together. Love and lust are not the same.

What are we teaching our children? Everything in this world seems to degrade the opposite sex. We judge the men on what they do and do not do. Then we judge the women off of their body and clothes.

We all say, “No you are not my type” or assume that someone who wants to be friends has a crush on you when they have not indicated it in any fashion. Why can we not be friends instead of letting our childish heart driven attraction get in the way of it?

Some of us make a list of attributes we would like to see in our partner. That is not a problem, please make that list and stick to it. But please do not flaunt it. People do not like to think that you are people shopping.

Do I have a list? Yes, I do. I typically keep it to myself. But for this conversation it seems that I will have to make an exception.

I am going to share a few of the things that are on my list with you so that you have an example. I think girls and guys should always know what they want in a life long partner. Even if the people they meet in life do not “Make the cut”. You can still be friends if you want. Unless it is a toxic relationship. Then you might want to consider different options.

Things I would like to see in my forever partner.

  1. Devotion ( To God, what they do, family, me, etc.)
  2. Faith (In anything that matters.)
  3. Patience (We all need some version of this)
  4. Integrity ( I will provide a definition)
  5. Confidence (Not that cocky arrogant kind either)
  6. Charity ( A Godly love for everyone no matter the person)
  7. Consistency ( The capability of being the same no matter the situation)

I am not normally for Wikipedia but their definition of integrity is definitely something to be thought about.

“Integrity is the practice of being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. In ethics , integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of ones actions.

Okay, now that you have an example. Think about what you want to see. Pray about it. Do not be shy to ask for what you want. God will give you what you need.

Make your own list. Everyones will be different. The right partner for me, will not be the right one for you. And that is okay. God made us all different for a reason.

Once you have decided what you want to live with for the rest of your life. Stick to it. You wanna know why I am single? Most of it is that I will settle for no less than what my Father has prepared for me. I will wait patiently for it. Even if it never comes. I will have faith in my Father and stand by my beliefs even if it leaves me single. I will still carry out the path my Father has set before me.

May all of Gods children stay strong and wait on him to provide. We shall know when the right one comes. Have faith and take care. Until your partner comes, learn more about yourself. Fulfill the path the Father has set before you. He will bring your partner to you when you are not even looking.

May you all have a blessed day.

Sincerely,

This Girl

Multiple Things

For those of you who do not know, I am a triplet. I am a naturally conceived fraternal triplet. My sisters and I are best friends and even now that we are older we hang out all the time.

Here are some questions I get frequently asked and the answers to them…

  1. Can y’all feel each other’s pain? – No, although if one starts crying normally the other two follow suite and do not know why.
  2. Are y’all all the same? – No, we are nothing alike. The only thing we all agree on is that vintage/mid-evil stuff are cool. Other than that one of us is an artist with a hippie kind of style, the middle one is a tech who can and will wear any style of clothes she wants no matter how it looks on her, I am very natural outdoor kind of girl who is in the medic/music field of things.
  3. Do we have any health issues? – No, we are completely healthy and have only seen a doctor for my sisters extremely mild asthma when I was very young. Other than that we do not even have a family doctor.
  4. Was it hard for your parents having three of you at the same time? – No, My mother says that my one brother is more work than all three of us put together.
  5. What was it like having 2 other people just like you? – Okay, so we have already established that we are not alike, it is great! For many specific reasons.
    1. My mother made us figure out our problems when we were kids. Like little disputes and when my older one and I would fight all the time.
    2. I have permanent friends. I am rarely alone
    3. I can never forget my sisters birthday.
  6. What are some things that are hard when being a triplet? – The answers are going to seem petty to some people but they are valid to me; Sharing a B-day was hard because no one ever wanted my themed decor, and carrot cake was not everyones favorite. Because I have never been alone (even having my own room) doing things by myself is hard. I do not even like sleeping in a room by myself. The other person does not need to be in the same bed, they just need to be in the room. It is a safety thing. If there is no one else in there I tend to wake up several times in a night. I have only recently come to terms with doing things on my own ( I am normally with my dogs.) I know that’s totally cheating lol.
  7. Do you girls get along? – We are each others best friends.
  8. Are any of you married? – No, none of us have decided to walk that path in life yet. Angelia had a possible guy for a while but things just did not work out. Jessi has had many men attempt to be her man and it has just not worked out. I have never had an applicant that I took seriously. I am on a war path and it would take a strong man of God to walk beside me and be my friend for the rest of my life.
Senor Photo.
Left to right. Angelia (2nd born) Ashlynn (3rd Born) Jessi (1st born) Yes my older sister is not looking !)

About each one of us…

Jessi – She is the oldest. She has a sharp tongue and a fiery spirit. She cuts her own path in the world. She is an incredibly talented artist. She can do charcoal, ink, acrylic, Copic marker, colored pencil, graphite, and the list just goes on. She likes to garden and swim. She loves sayings from random people and old classic things like her 1993 Ford F150. She also likes old time music.

Angelia – She is the middle child. A lot of people try to tell me the middle child is the troubled child. She is not. She is my little dare devil, hollow leg, tech. She likes to do things like snow board behind a snow machine. She loves food (nickname hollow leg) . She does videography and photography. She loves kids which is why she babysits and works for the school district as a sub for mostly elementary. Her clothes style alone tells you about her very upbeat, sweet, and loving personality. She will wear anything from cheetah print to neon yellow. She is my peacemaker when my older sister and I have a occasional dispute about something silly.

Ashlynn – I am the enthusiastic little sister. Every time I tell my family “I was thinking” or “I have and idea”. I can clear a room because they are terrified to know what it is. For some strange reason we tend to actually do most of my ideas.

I have many life goals. A couple them are to one day fly a plane and foster/adopt kids. My biggest goal in life is to do whatever my Father has planned for me. I never want to miss what I was put on this planet to do. I have lived a life with many adventures and various random changes. (like moving to AK) My favorite things in life are camping, fishing, four wheeling, hiking, and playing with my dogs.

Well, now that you have meet all three of us. I will have to tell you all funny stories occasionally. Please like and subscribe to my blog. I do have a facebook page.

That is it for now,

I can’t grow up

A lot of us wished to never grow up. There are also a lot of people who wanted to grow up and now wish they could go back.

I have always had the luxury of being me. I have also been allowed to be a child for as long as possible. I had a great childhood. We played Cowboys and Indians with my cousins, climbed trees, played in the mud, parents helped us with anything. I did not have a care in the world.

I am 21 now. I had to grow up somewhere in there right? No! I did not have to grow up. I accepted responsibility like I should. I help my parents, do stuff for them because I love and respect them like God asked of us. I accepted the confidence God gave me to do what I have to do. God gave me a job so I could pay my bills and do what I need to do.

I still play in the mud, climb trees, take silly face photo’s. I still hang out with my parents and 13 yr old lil bro. I still dance in the kitchen when we make dinner. I still smile.

People take adulting and turn it in to this horrible thing. Like a nightmare at night to scare our kids. We should be allowed to mature at our own pace. I am still learning to this day.

I look very young. Some of it is my genes, the rest is probably because I have never worn makeup. Because of this I have had people not take me seriously. This made me question my capability. God gave me confidence. I use to say I never wanted to get older than 12. Guess how old people think I am when they meet me for the first time. If you guessed 12 you are right. I get accused of being a middle schooler. Guess I got what I asked for.

Please do not grow up. Learn to love, respect, and believe in yourself. We are children of the most high God. I should never have questioned my capability. Do not make the same mistake.

And parents, children mature and grow all at different rates. Do not give up. We all still need y’all.

If you enjoy what you are reading please like and subscribe. I would like to see you again. Have a blessed day.

Animals that live in AK

Okay, I am not going to talk about every single animal in AK. I will discuss the ones you are more likely to encounter more often. The animals I am going to talk about are Moose, Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, Beaver, Otter, Whale, Loon, and Bark Beetles.

Moose –

These beautiful creatures are the size of large draft horses. They are very strong and very fast. Here are some good facts to know about these animals.

 1) They shed there horns in the winter

 2) Mother moose are aggressively protective over there claves

 3) You can hunt them. At a certain time and in a certain way.

 4) DO NOT feed these animals. It is against the law.

 5) They can and will walk through the neighborhoods and your backyard.

 6) They cross major highways

 7) When a moose gets hit on the road and dies we have a list of people and whoever is next on that list gets the moose for meat.

 8) They are incredibly quite

Story –

I have a wilderness med teacher who is a trail runner. She just recently got a gun to take with her running. I do not remember what kind. She always takes one of her dogs with her. As she was trail running this moose was chasing her. At the time she had not idea why and wove in and out of trees trying to keep objects in-between her and the moose. Her foot caught a root from a tree and she tripped. The moose kicked as she put her arms up the hoof hit the inside of her lower arm. She saw the moose’s calf not very far away and pulled out her gun and shot in the air to scare the moose away. It worked and the dog pursued after the moose for awhile.

That is what I remember of the story.

Bear –

I am going to put both of these bears together to make life simpler.

 1) Black bears are more aggressive than brown bears

 2) Most of them will leave you alone if you leave them alone.

 3) We have a pepper spray that was put on steroid called Bear spray, or bullets made specifically to kill bear.

 4) We also have something called Bear Bells. If you make enough noise for the bear to hear you it will normally go the other way

 5) Bears have been known to destroy vehicles retrieving food that was inside of them. So I would keep you vehicle clean of any food products.

 6) All bears Hibernate in the winter.

Stories –

  1. One time I was out on the four wheelers with my family. I was passenger on my moms. We had three four wheelers in total. The front one had My dad and lil brother. The second one had my two triplet sisters. Then there was me and mother. We all had walkie talkies. The passengers were the ones in charge of communication.

I was talking to one of my sisters on the radio when I looked to my left. There almost right next to us was a baby black bear. I was shocked and somewhat worried because I did not see the mother.  I told my mother to keep driving because I saw a cub. My mother was shocked. I told everyone to not stop for awhile until we were far enough away from that cub.

  1. This story was told to my by  my Water Search and Rescue Chief. Him and a few buddies went camping one night. If I remember correctly they rafted out to there destination. One of his buddies was younger, he had just bought a new tent. They were all sitting next to the campfire chatting when they heard a loud rip noise towards the tents. They got up and walked over there slowly scarring off whatever made the sound. When they got to there buddies new tent there was a long tear right text to the zipper. They heard this loud crying noise. My chief recognized the sound, It was a bear cub. The cub was the one responsible for the tear. Chief told them all to go sit down next to the fire, the mother will come get her cub and probably just leave. As they continued there talking the cub continued its crying until they heard a loud noise near the tents again. So a few of them got up and walked over there. At first they did not see anything. Then a large head emerged from the bushes. one of the younger unexperienced guys took a shot at hit and the bullet glided right above the bears head. The bear roared in disapproval. Then left to go find her cub. Chief was really excited that she did not attack them due to that guy taking a shot at her. They did not hear from her or her cub after that.

Beaver –

The chance of you seeing one of these depend on where you go. I have seen there houses and chewed on logs. I think I have seen one swimming. Other than that I think that it is not often you actually get to lay your eyes on these. You are more likely to see an otter than a beaver. Beavers are nice to have around but they can be a little destructive to the environment because the chew many trees down to damn up places and build there houses. the entrance to there homes is under the water. They live off of fish and other things. Past that you are gonna want to do further research on these great creatures.

Otter –

We have these great creatures called sea otters. you will see these cute guys floating around in the docks of homer, Seward One of the coolest things I know about these creatures is that they will hold each others hands as they nap floating so that there friends do not float away from them as they nap. I have seen them swimming in the cooler part of the season. They are great little guys that you may see on your glacier cruises or just sitting on the docks one day.

Whale –

If I understand correctly the whales migrate down to Mexico during the winter. These mammals feed mostly on krill. Depending on when you take that glacier cruise you may see a whale as well. Right now we have had several of these creatures wash up on shore dead for unknown reasons. Other places they migrate are seeing dead whales washing up as well.

Loon –

last but definitely not least is the loon. This awesome bird, ( I think it looks like a duck) has a loud noise when it calls out. It is very pretty. It reminds me almost of the sound coyotes made down south. If you are near a body of water and see that bird, you have fish in that water. These birds feed off of fish. We have some that live on my family’s lake in Kenai.

Bark Beetles –

These bugs are probably the most irritating insects I have met up here. They burrow there way into out spruce and kill them from the inside out. It is such a widespread problem right now that we hope the fires we are experiencing kill the majority of these pests. We have had to close certain parks and other places due to these dead spruces falling. You can tell if the spruce is dead due to the bark beetles if the tree is turning brown. If the spruce is not brown then something else is killing it. We have not found any chemical or any repellent that will get rid of these insects. Until then we are stuck cutting the trees that are infected with these insects in the winter when they hibernate and burning them.
